there are dozens of lakes connected by a network of trails. Many of the lakes can only be reached by walking.  If your interests include the outdoors, photography, bird watching, fishing, or just relaxing by a gentle mountain stream, then you've found the ideal vacation area.

A variety of historic lodges

Lodges in the 1920's had tent cabins in the Feather River Lakes Basin. Meals were served in the dining room tent.

If you're looking for lodging with all the meals cooked for you, take a look at Gold Lake Lodge, Gray Eagle Lodge or Cabins at Gold Lake. At these resorts, the only planning you have to do is what clothes to wear, and how to spend your free time.  They rent by the night for those with a tight schedule.
 

If you would rather cook the meals yourself, Elwell Lodge, Sardine Lake Resort, Salmon Lake Lodge, and Packer Lake Lodge have cabins with kitchens containing all the necessary equipment. Weekly accommodations only during the main summer months

Cabins in the mountains can be small or large at the various lodges.

Lodging

Visitors have many choices of lodging in the area of hotel rooms, cabins, and tent cabins. Some lodges have restaurants and some have kitchen units. Many owners have run their historic lodges for decades.

You can hike to the top of Mt. Elwell on easy and well marked trails.

Activities

Visitors come to the Lakes Basin in the summer primarily to enjoy the abundant trails this mountainous area has to offer. Swimming in the glacial lakes, horseback riding, and mountain biking also draw people back year after year.

Fraser Falls has an easy accessible trail leading to an overlook with a spectacular view.

Scenery

There are never ending vistas of pristine lakes, wildflower meadows, and craggy mountains that attract photographers and other artists to the Lakes Basin.

Meadows with wildflowers can be reached along the trails to the PCT ridge.

Solitude

The Lakes Basin is filled with boggy ponds and secluded meadows just waiting for you to discover. Off the beaten path, the area has the peace and quiet you are looking for.
